Patient Access Week 2016

Each year, Patient Access Week celebrates the dedicated staff who manage the Patient Access phase of the healthcare access continuum. This event was established on April 5, 1982 to coincide with the anniversary of the founding of the National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM). The celebration, which annually spans the entire week of the anniversary, will take place April 3 – 9 this year. Its theme, “Patient Access Professionals: The Face of the Patient Experience”, recognizes Patient Access staff as the initial point of contact that patients have with a hospital. In addition to their numerous and complex responsibilities, Patient Access makes the first impression and sets the tone for the entire patient experience. They are in charge of pre-registration processes, pre-service collections, denials prevention, and more while also maintaining many different policies, procedures, rules, and exceptions associated with them. They continually accomplish these tasks as quickly as possible and in a manner that provides the patient with a positive experience.

Here at AccuReg, we salute Patient Access personnel across the country and hope they enjoy this special week. We are proud to work alongside these hardworking employees and appreciate what they do every day!
