John Thompson has more than two decades of experience as a highly sought-after expert on improving and maximizing the hospital revenue cycle process. He’s spent most of his career educating hospitals and health systems on the value of adopting a front-end approach and helping hospital leaders drive change that reduces costs and increases patient satisfaction. At AccuReg, Thompson is responsible for helping customers analyze and optimize performance to eliminate denials, decrease cost to collect, provide accurate patient price estimates, increase POS cash collections and improve patient engagement and satisfaction. Previously, he was director of the department of registrations and admissions at Children’s National Medical Center, after which he served as revenue cycle principal at Phoenix Health Systems and as senior consulting manager with IMA Consulting Inc. Most recently, he was principal at Revenue Cycle Coalition LLC in Chester, Md. He is co-founder of the National Capital Association of Healthcare Access Management and previously served as its president.
